The principle of a mooring buoy: useful and practical

The anchor buoy, or orin, has two main uses. The first is to indicate on the surface of the water where your anchor is located so that another boat does not come and moor over it. The second is to be able to remove the anchor from the top if it is stuck under a rock and that removing it by its chain does not dislodge it.

We generally find 3 colors of anchor buoys: red/orange, yellow and white. These buoys are mainly made of plastic.

Which mooring buoy should I choose?

The simplest and lowest priced mooring buoy we have in stock is the Plastimo mooring buoyThis buoy, available at the same price, has a non-biconical shape. It has a total buoyancy of 12 kg and a useful weight of 6 kg. It is available in red, yellow and white, it will signal the presence of your boat's anchor.

In the same range of products, the Plastimo dead body buoy. It is a very simple bi-conical buoy that will do its job very well. It is available in several models of different sizes and buoyancy. It is a plastic anchor buoy. In white, red and yellow, it is UV resistant and will indicate the line of your anchor. This float has a diameter of 25 cm.

The Plastimo dead body buoy is a stainless steel buoy with a double cone shape for an optimal load distribution. It has a swivel for a better hold. Totally made of plastic, this buoy is UV resistant. It is available in 2 colors, red and white for two different models, each offering different dimensions and buoyancy.

If a solid plastic buoy does not suit you, you can opt for the Plastimo inflatable rod mooring buoy. Made of PVC, this inflatable buoy has a recommended inflation pressure of 0.15 bar. You will find it in different diameters of buoy and rod in a foamed or uninflated version. This mooring buoy is only available in red.

Yellow in color and with good buoyancy, it is one of the essential accessories for a regatta type boat race.
