Founded in 1888 in Morez, Jura, France, Julbo was originally a company that supplied stonecutters with protective eyewear. After being bought out by Jules Baud, it specialized in sunglasses and adopted the name under which it is known today: Julbo (the phonetic spelling of Jules Baud). The company is still based in Longchaumois, in the Jura region, following its purchase by René Beaud in 1979.

This is where Julbo designs, creates, produces and stocks its eyewear. Today, Julbo is an international brand, thanks to its subsidiary in Vermont, USA, and the many international sportsmen and women it sponsors. The brand has won numerous awards and prizes for its innovation.
