The Wichard Imperdable Axis Shackle is not the most common type of shackle used on sailboats.
However, it is ideal for securing and orienting equipment correctly: positioning a hoist in front of a jammer, securing a lifeline to the deck.
The axle is locked in notches, which avoids untimely unscrewing. It is also captive when unscrewed. For definitive fastenings, prefer shackles with a hexagonal shaft.
