V and B, Monbana & Mayenne join forces with Maxime Sorel

Trained as a civil engineer, Maxime Sorel made his first tacks off Port Mer in Cancale. He cut his teeth in light sailing and acquired a taste for the open sea on Pascal Quintin's Multi50. He completed his first transatlantic race in the Route du Rhum in 2014.

From an early age, Maxime Sorel has been involved in the fight against cystic fibrosis. Once an active member of the Virades de l'Espoir with his family, he became a fervent ambassador on his first Route du Rhum. After 5 years of raising awareness of this disease, he has now been appointed national sponsor alongside Laurence Ferrari.

Once upon a time, an alliance of iconic brands came together for a single cause: beating cystic fibrosis. Since its first Route du Rhum in 2014 with V and B, the département of Mayenne is joining the project in 2019 to set off on its first Vendée Globe in 2020/21. Monbana consolidates this union. Together, the partners of skipper Maxime Sorel have built the IMOCA V and B - Monbana - Mayenne, christened "Le Dragon des Océans".

Maxime Sorel's "Double Everest

In May 2023, the skipper will achieve the feat of reaching the summit of Mount Everest, 8,848 meters above sea level. After completing his first Vendée Globe in 82 days, Maxime and his team have taken on yet another challenge.

The equipment manufacturer Helly Hansen has been chosen to supply Maxime and his team with technical clothing.
