Boat license card

SHOM CARD 9999

The offshore boat license is required to sail on the high seas more than 6 miles from a shelter. To obtain this permit, it is necessary to pass a theoretical exam, the preparation of which can be facilitated through the use of the SHOM 9999 card. The SHOM (Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy) is the public body responsible for the collection of data (sounding, current, coastlines, etc.) and the production of nautical charts. The SHOM 9999 card is one of its productions, intended to help candidates for the offshore license exam.

is used for the examination of the offshore boat license. It contains all the essential information of a nautical chart, such as latitude and longitude scales, coasts, hazards, soundings, lighthouses, beacons, currents, etc. In addition, it is in A4 folded and A0 open format, and its scale is 1/50000. The SHOM 9999 card is also approved by the French maritime authorities to pass the offshore license tests. It can be used for all exercises and practice exams necessary to prepare for this exam.

However, it is important to note that the SHOM 9999 card cannot be used for navigation. Many indications differ from those of the official navigation chart 7033 L, and it is intended exclusively for the preparation of the offshore license exam. In addition, the organizing administration keeps the card as an examination copy.

The SHOM 9999 card is therefore an essential tool for candidates for the offshore boat license exam. It allows you to prepare effectively for the theoretical exam by providing all the necessary information. However, it is important to remember that it cannot be used for actual navigation. To do this, you must obtain an official nautical chart, such as the SHOM 7033L chart.
