Since they met in 2004, the two skippers have never left each other's side and share their love for each other both on land and at sea. Sam knows the sea by heart. Born into a family of sailors, she learned to walk on her parents' sailboat. Romain, on the other hand, had to leave his mountains to learn to tame them. At first a mountaineer, he became a sailor through some sacrifices.

In her book, the journalist Julie Bourgois transcribes with accuracy the daily life of the two professional sailors. To do so, she lived with the couple and their son Ruben in their house in Brittany.

The first part of the book Sans escale is thus devoted to the everyday life, to the way the couple works and lives this common passion of the ocean. Then comes their respective participation in the previous editions of the Vendée Globe. The last part of the book focuses on the 2020/21 Vendée Globe race, for which the couple competed. Sam Davies' retirement, after a collision, and his choice to continue out of competition with his boat Initiatives-Coeur. The result of Romain Attanasio, 14th in 90 days, for his second participation on board his Imoca Pure - Best Western.
